Transferring to a university from a junior college can be nerve-wracking!

TRANSFERRING TO A UNIVERSITY from a junior college can be nerve-racking. There are so many transfer options out there. Maybe you lack the confidence to take the next step. I have been there, but I did it, and so can you! Here are my four best tips to help you go from junior college student to uni student.

see your academic advisor

schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor

Schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor at a college that you are interested in. Your junior college academic counselor is no help? Don’t know what your dream college is looking for? Perhaps you feel stuck? Go schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor at a college that you want to transfer to. That’s right! You don’t have to be a student at the university to meet with their counselors. It’s easy, and worth it. They can tell you if you are ready to transfer or if you need to do more. They can even give you application tips.

take a tour of the campus

Schedule a tour of the university! Take the day off and go visit the college that you want to transfer to. They are happy to give you a tour! Maybe you will feel more eager to transfer, or Maybe you will want to look at other options. Either way, it will boost your confidence to get a feel for other campuses!

check out the website

review the university’s website

Check out the university’s website. Explore the school virtually. What Student organizations do they have? Do they have disability services or a career center? Also check out your major on the school’s website- it will give you an idea of what your coursework will look like, or what your major is like at that particular school.

don’t stress

Don’t stress! You don’t have to race out of junior college. Take pride in where you are now, and apply to your desired university when you feel ready.

Maybe you lack the confidence to take the next step. I have been there, but I did it, and so can you!
